Months 1-4

Despite my lack of blogging, I have been taking monthly pictures.  Of course, I haven't used my good camera, but these days iPhone shots aren't too bad, right??

1 Month
Around 6.5 lbs
A lot of black hair, dark blue eyes
Eating every 2 hours during the day, every 3-4 hours at night
Wearing newborn clothes, not doing a whole lot yet!

2 Months
9 lbs
Wearing Newborn clothing
Black hair starting to thin out, Dark blue eyes
Rolled over tummy to back a few times, but that didn't become consistent until month 3.5 so was probably not on purpose.  Tracks an object across the room, usually mommy.  Small smiles.

3 Months
11 lbs
Wearing 3 month clothing
Almost bald on top!, Eyes starting to turn brown-hazel
Started going to work with mommy, smiling, and a few quick giggles.  Clasps hands in midline, and they're always in his mouth.  Sleeping 7pm-7am, with 1 wake up between 3-5am to nurse.

4 Months
12 lbs, 13 oz
Wearing 3-6 Month clothing
Very thin hair with small patch in the back, Eyes hazel
Smiling, laughing, babbling, reaching for toys.  Consistently rolling from tummy to back.  Prefers to face out in a carrier, and sitting for longer stretches in bumbo.  Sleeping 7pm-7am, with 1 wake up between 3-5am to nurse.

We Had A Baby!

That's right, Madden Charles McCoy has arrived...4 months ago.  In case the fact I haven't touched this blog since last November wasn't enough of an indication, we've been a little busy around these parts.  Although life is now crazier than ever, I'm hoping to start updating a bit more often because I don't want to skip over this awesome part of mommyhood without documenting it.

My labor with Mason was awful - lasted 36 hours and we had a decent amount of complications once we were finally admitted to the hospital.  So this time around I kept my expectations low, and when I went into labor I settled in for what could potentially be another long few days.  Instead, things were quick, easy, and as weird as it sounds, almost downright pleasant!  Tristan & I headed to the hospital after about 6 hours of close-together-but-not-horrible contractions, I was admitted, got my epidural, was at 10 cm 3 hours later, pushed for 10 minutes and out he came!

My labor coaches, hanging out waiting for 10cm.  It's a tough job when an epidural is involved :)

Madden Charles McCoy joined us at 3:30pm on December 3.   He was 5lbs, 13oz, and 18 inches (but I think they measured him wrong, & he was closer to 19)

The past 4 months have been quite a blur, but I wouldn't trade them for anything.  Mason has turned into such a great big brother, and has become quite the big boy.  We decided to potty train him while I was on maternity leave (you know, because I didn't have anything else to do while hanging around the house with a toddler & newborn), and luckily he took to it quickly.

I took 12 weeks maternity leave, and we really maximized that time together.  My mom came to visit twice (for Madden's birth and then again with my dad in January), and we went to the zoo, wild animal park, children's museums, two Hornblower boat cruises, a wedding, the mountains, looking at Christmas lights...there was no sitting around the house all day staring at the baby this time around with a 2 year old to entertain!

So far Madden has been a really good baby just like his brother was.  He is a great night sleeper (we just hit almost 12 hours straight!), very mild mannered, loves his milk but could care less the source or what's in it.  He loves watching his big brother and no one can calm him down like his daddy can.

Hopefully from here I'll start posting more updates :)
